temptation of contemplation

The Depression of LukeScarlettHe sits beneath the oak tree at sunset, as he had done for the past week. The orange glow of the setting fireball reflecting in his dull brown eyes.  He watched it, unmoving, his dark hair unkept, swaying slightly in the wind.  Sighing the figure moved slightly, his body posture slumping, as if loosing its structure, the shoulders drooping, leaning his full weight against the tree. The extinction rate of life on earth...

☆ Inspired by another journal that I read a moment ago, now Ive forgotton where it was. They highlighted the extinction rate in Australia, the holders of the highest extinction rate in the world. But its not just Australia, even if they lowered their numbers, then the rest of the world would have their rates, which are also highly disgraceful.

Planet earth's plants and animals are hurtling towards extinction at an unprecedented rate because of the impact of humans on fragile ecosystems, us, we're killers, no big news there, everyone knows that, but why dont we ever do anything about it!?
One in four mammals, one in eight birds, one third of all amphibians and 70 per cent of the world's assessed plants now appear on the widely-recognised Red List of endangered plants and animals.

Human activity causing loss of habitat through urbanisation, agriculture and deforestation combined with climate change are cited as the biggest threat to plants and animals.

What can be done to halt the extinction of so many species?

Is it ever justifiable to sacrifice ecosystems for economic gain?

Humans are directly responsible for massacring all the animals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, coral reefs, marine species, rainforests and jungles. We have hellish slaughterhouses, hunting and poaching fields, fur farms, trapping and animal research labs. Humans are the murderous tryants on earth while the other species are the tortured souls. Why do we do it? Because we think were god, we think we can do what we like, control everything without consequnces. But boy...theres gonna be consequences...big ones...there just building up, ready to strike hard...

What right have we to kill and condem other animals to extinction?

Whats the point of your pathetic pleasure palaces if you no longer hear the birds sing?

Did you know Polar Bears are the only creatures the physically hunt humans? Were actually on their food chain, the bears actually go out, looking for humans to hunt and eat...must be annoying for them in zoos...big hunks of meat walking past, so close, yet so far...:giggle:

    well... thats if I get in! Its an eight week trip to California, learning the skills of lifeguarding, eight mile swims, 40ft jmps, three day hikes, etc, it sounds so good! Id do anything to go, its just...wow...thats all I can say!
